 Bringing Jobs to Broxbourne

The Borough needs to attract new jobs and broaden the range of opportunities for local people. Existing employment sites off Essex Road in Hoddesdon, Park Plaza, between the A10, M25 and Winston Churchill Way, and Canada Fields by the Great Cambridge Road at Turnford now need to be developed.

Shopping  - supporting choice ?
The area needs a  range of shopping facilities from town centre markets and corner shops to the larger superstores and retail warehouses.

The vitality and viability of  Hoddesdon, Cheshunt and Waltham Cross are essential to the continuing health of the community. The Brookfield Centre and retail park are popular and make  a significant contribution to meeting residents’ shopping needs.

The plan will investigate shopping facilities for which residents have to travel out of the Borough because they are not available in Broxbourne.

It will also look at ways to avoid shops remaining empty by considering alternative uses for vacant shops such as cafes restaurants and entertainment facilities and whether to bring residential uses back to the town centres.

Traffic congestion:  what should/ can we do ?
Traffic congestion and an over-reliance on the motor car need to be curbed.  The plan will look at measures to encourage travel other than by private car.

Your quality of life
Maintaining the quality of life, including an attractive built environment, access to  open space, local community, leisure and recreation facilities is a key objective.

The plan is  one opportunity to address  local needs and issues in guiding  how the Borough develops in the future
